EVIDENCES AND CONFIRMATIONS

Introduction
Evidences of prophecy are the things that prove that prophecy is true and possible. It has become necessary to emphasize these evidences as some churches do not believe in or approve of prophecy. The evidences include:
- God
He is the source of prophecy. Himself is a prophet.
Remember the former thing, those of long ago;
I am God, and there is no other;
I am, and there is none like me.
I make know the end from the beginning,
From ancient times, what is still to come.
Isaiah 46:9,10
- Jesus Christ
Jesus was a prophet.
“When Jesus entered Jerusalem, the whole city was stirred and asked, “Who is this?”
The crowds answered, “This is Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth in Galilee”.
Jesus fulfilled several prophecies of the Old Testament. He declared prophecies about the future. He made several revelations about the end time. His messages in the Book of Revelations, given through Apostle John, are entirely prophecy.
- Holy Spirit
Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Prophecy. It is also the Spirit of Truth. It is the Holy Spirit that moves people and prophets to prophesy. Jesus testified that the Holy Spirit is a prophet saying,
12 "I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. 13 However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.
John 16:12-14
"These things I have spoken to you while being present with you. 26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things , and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.
John 14:27
In Zechariah 4:6, God clearly show that prophecy is by His own spirit: the Holy Spirit.
“Not by might nor by power, but by my spirit,” says the Lord. Zechariah 4:6
Prophet Joel acknowledges the above fact in his prophecy, saying:
‘And afterwards,
I will pour out my spirit on all people You Sons and daughters will prophesy,
Your old men will dream dreams; You Young men will see visions. Ever on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my spirit in those days”. Joel 2:28,29
- The Angels
All the Angels are prophets. Outstanding among them is Archangel Gabriel who reveals hidden things. Most of the messages delivered by the Angels in the Old and New Testaments were prophecies. In fact, all prophecies come from God, through Jesus Christ, by the Holy Spirit, and is delivered by the Angels to humanity.
“The revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show his servants what must soon take place.” He made it known by sending Angel to his servant John, who testifies to everything he saw –that is the word of God and testimony of Jesus Christ.
Revelation 1:1-3
Again the Book of Revelation says,
“These words are trustworthy and true. The lord, the God of the spirits of the prophets, sent his Angel to show his servants the things that must soon take place.” Revelation 22:6
- The Prophets
Of course, we can say, “As important as a prophet”.
- The Bible
The Bible contains numerous prophecies and some of their fulfillments. The New Testament is more or less the fulfillment of the Old Testament.
“All scripture is God inspired and useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.” Timothy. 3:16
Apostle Peter testifies accordingly,
“Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of scripture came about by the prophecy own interpretation. For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man., but man spoke from God as they were carried along (move or inspired) by the Holy Spirit.” 2 Peter 1: 20, 21
- The Fulfillment
The fulfillment of a prophecy becomes an evidence of the prophecy and its reality. God teaches this in the Book of Deuteronomy, saying,
“You may say to yourselves, how can we know when a message has not been spoke by the lord? If what a prophet proclaim in the name of the lord does not take place or come true, that is a message the lord has not spoken. That a prophet has spoken presumptuously. Do not be afraid of him.” Deuteronomy 18: 21
- Signs And Wonders
The signs and wonders that accompany a prophecy confirm the prophecy. For instance, if somebody steps on a sandy ground, his footprint appears on the ground. The event is that the person stepped on the ground. The sign becomes the footprint.
Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know: Acts 2:22
And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles.
Acts 2:43
And by the hands of the apostles were many signs and wonders wrought among the people; (and they were all with one accord in Solomon's porch. Acts 5:12
Insomuch that the multitude wondered, when they saw the dumb to speak, the maimed to be whole, the lame to walk, and the blind to see: and they glorified the God of Israel.
Matthew 15:32
- Scientific Evidence
Scientific calculations, projections and interpretations are prophetic. In fact, the ability to predict accurately is now a standard measurement of understanding in all fields of life. Prophecy is the bedrock of consultancy services.
- Confirmation
Confirmatory tests or investigations before, during or after the fulfillment of prophecy bear evidence of true prophecies. Several patients who were miraculously healed have been referred to laboratory tests, which tested and confirmed the healing.
